2015 Rental Market Report

Rent.com just released it’s annual market report citing research done on hundreds of property managers, thousands of rental properties, and hundreds of thousands of rental units across the country.  As you might imagine, the rental market is very strong right now (vacancy rates are at their lowest in almost 20 years).  There are plenty of prospective tenants and rents are strong. I recently found this article about the importance of window safety in rental properties.  It said that between 1990 and 2008 there were an estimated 98,415 children treated for falls from windows at U.S. emergency rooms.  And unfortunately, the numbers are rising.  Property managers should be aware and up-to-date on window safety, and this article from Inman gives 7 ways to improve window safety at your rental properties.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announce new foreclosure timelines

Fannie Mae and Freddie have both announced they are increasing the maximum number of allowable days for “routine” foreclosure proceedings,in 33 states retroactive back to  Aug. 1(2014).
