Some cool Point Loma Homes images:
The ‘new’ Point Loma Lighthouse – 1891 – Viper’s lair in “Top Gun”
The old Point Loma Lighthouse, it seems, was so often blanketed in fog (because of it’s higher location – go figure!) that it had to be replaced by this Coast Guard Lighthouse Station.
For fans of the Tom Cruise movie "Top Gun": The lighthouse keeper’s house was used in the filming. . It served as home of Mike Metcalf (Viper), the commanding office of Top Gun. The house and surrounding area are seen when Maverick (Tom Cruise) goes to the officer’s house to discuss his options, after the crash that killed Goose.
Point Loma Orange Cliffs at Sunset – San Diego, CA
There is a small trail along these cliffs near the Point Loma Lighthouse (Cabrillo National Monument). The park was closing, and I was being chased by the park rangers who were trying to make sure everyone went home. I ran ahead and stopped briefly to fire off a couple shots here. I was bummed I couldn’t stay longer for the sun to peak out.
I realize this shot might be too HDRish for some, but I like how the rich green and orange from the scene comes through. I’m still experimenting with HDR to see what I like.
